Magmaw Strategy

Tank
Magmaw 10 and 25 normal is a one tank fight. The tank simply stands on the front right side of
the room and holds agro. The tank must look out for the ability “Mangle”. You will need to use
cooldowns to survive this, in addition, the healer will have to try to keep you to full health before
Magmaw does this attack. Once Magmaw mangles you, you are taken up into the insects mouth
and kept out of healer range temporarily whislt taking massive damage, generally 110k-130k
every 5 seconds. Once mangle is done you are released from the mouth and can melee at will.
The next thing the tank needs to be aware of is that after Mangle, and after the insect has gone
through the phase whee magmaw is impaled on the spike, he comes back up and his agro table is
reset. Make sure to grab agro quickly.

Melee DPS
This fight requires a minimum of 2 in 10 man and 3 in 25 man. If the boss has no one to melee
he has two abilities that can wipe the raid. One “Magma Spit” inflicts up to 50k Fire damage
to a player when no one is in melee range. The other, “Molten tantrum”, a stacking buff Magmaw
gains dealing 100% more damage per application, up to 10 stacks, when no one is in melee range.
You will hardly ever deal with these two abilities, your tank should always be in melee range,
and mangle counts towards melee range.
During “Mangle” Magmaw will be vulnerable. The melee will then, 2 for 10 man, 3 for 25, have
click target the spike infront of magmaw to activate “constricting chains” hooking magmaw to
the ground, spitting out the tank and giving him the debuff “Point of Vulnerability, increasing
the damage Magmaw takes by 100%.

Ranged DPS
We will have two spots marked on the ground. These two spots are not exact stacking points
but more so directions of movement. You will start, stacked completely together as a group and
when necissary (called over vent) move staying as a group and stacked in the direction of the
other marker. The reason for this is that Magmaw casts “Pillar of Flame” and immediately after
infectious vomit. This vomit starts as a red mark under your toons feet so it is important to have
a camera angle that allows you see the point under your feet. Once this vomit happens the person
responsible for calling out movement directions over vent will tell you to move but only AFTER
a red pool has appeared under a player in the ranged dps section. You must quickly move because
adds, “Infectious Parasites” will grow quickly from that red mark. You must aoe dps those adds as
quickly and efficiently as possible. No one should turn dps back to magmaw until all the adds are
gone. Reason being, If an add touches you, it gives you the “Infectious Vomit” stacking debuff
causing your toon to vomit parasites aswell. Should your toon become infected, run out of the
packed group, into the nearest wall until your debuff falls off. Ranged will be responsible for
killing all the parasites that come out of your toon at that point.

Healers.
Magmaw will do several nasty things to the raid that you will basically have to just heal through.
His pillar of flame will target a player dealing around 25k to that player in damage. If a player gets
“Parasitic Infection from the worms, they will take 12k damage per second until the debuff falls
off. Magmaw will at times do a massive AOE to the raid. This move is called “Lava Spew” and deals
31k to 36k damage every second for 5 seconds to the entire raid. You must simply heal through
this. During mangle, the mangle target, hopefully being the tank, will get a debuff called
“Sweltering Armor.” It is VERY imporant to have the tank at as close to full health immediately
before mangle occurs because this debuff reduces the Armor of the mangled player by 50% for
two minutes. So basically this: Heal bursts of damage, heal through large aoe damage not leaving
anyone too low because the bursts will get them, and keep the tank topped off as often as possible
and especially before Mangle. During the bosses impalement and vulnerability phase you will
have a chance to gain back some mana, so heal freely.

To the entire raid
Always watch for worms on the ground. Never let the parasites touch you and make sure they die
fast. Also, when magmaw Mangles the tank, he will cover half the ground with “Ignition” dealing
24-26k damage per second to anyone standing in it. It looks like grey dust, simply stand out of it.
Also, while magmaw is impaled, you are not to attack him unless all the adds are dead.

In conculsion, dont touch worms, dont stand in fire, killing adds quickly wins the fight.
